Who We Are

The story, vision and mission behind Jai Sakthi Women Empowerment Trust.

Our Story

Founded in 2005, still working village by village

Jai Sakthi Women Empowerment Trust (JSWET) was established in 2005 with a focus on women, children, farmers and youth — helping them lead dignified lives as they build their futures, nationally, regionally or globally.

We work in 25 villages across the Batlagundu, Ayyampalayam, Athoor and Viruveedu blocks of Dindigul district, extending into Madurai and Theni districts — reaching some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in the region.

Our approach is participatory rather than prescriptive. We organise women into self-help groups, train farmers in sustainable practice, and run education and health programmes that meet people where they are — applying what we call a "Convergence Model," dovetailing the benefits of several programmes so families receive integrated support rather than a single isolated service.

Vision

Empower the oppressed and marginalised sections of society, providing long-term avenues for growth and socio-economic development.

Mission

  • Fight relentlessly for the cause of the oppressed and the poorest of the poor, so they receive their due share and a better quality of life.
  • Adopt participatory, gender- and rights-based approaches to identify and solve the problems of the most marginalised — especially women.
  • Apply a "Convergence Model" of growth, dovetailing several programmes to deliver integrated services at the grassroots level.
Where We Work

25 villages, three districts, one steady presence

Our field teams are based across Dindigul, Madurai and Theni districts in southern Tamil Nadu, working directly inside the communities we serve.
